FUNNY
Mommy: Nikki, I'm going to turn the air con off now okay?
Nikki: Okay mommy. (Pause.) But later, we'll turn it on again okay?
Mommy: We'll see. We'll turn it on if it gets really hot again. But for now, we'll turn it off because the room is already cold.
Nikki: Yes Mommy. The room is already cold. (Pause.) I think the room needs a blanket.
Hahaha! So cute! =D

BAD BOY
Oh my goodness, I just wanted to bring Nikki and Ethan out of there but we still a good 15 minutes and Nikki was still having fun racing. But I was already simmering. I wanted to give Kian a piece of my mind but I know it's really not my place. While waiting for time to pass, I thought, where on earth did this 7 year old kid learn to do that? In school? From his friends? On tv? It really caught me by surprise. Before we left, I told the watchers to keep an eye on the kids and to be vigilant because some of the kids throw stuff around and bully little kids.
When I got home, I was still bothered about the whole middle finger incident. I mean, why wouldn't I? I certainly don't do THAT! My goodness. Because of what happened today, I am becoming more and more grateful that I'm homeschooling my boys. If this is what it takes to instill the proper values and morals to them then no matter how hard it gets, I'll do it just as long as my boys grow up to be God-fearing, respectful and loving individuals. And I certainly hope that the next time we go to a playplace, there will be more loving kids and less bad boys.

AAAAARGH!!!
When will this ever end?
A few hours ago, we were eating lunch. Nikki wanted to get water from the refrigerator but Ron, my brother-in-law was in the way. So Nikki said, "Tito Ron, I want some water please." And Ron said, "So, what do you say?" And Nikki said, "Excuse me, Tito Ron." AND THEN my mother-in-law said, "That is exactly why Nikki should go to school, so he will learn words like 'excuse me'." Uh, didn't he just say it? I reeeeeally felt so bad!! I just felt like I was belittled in front of the family. And again, Ruther was not here to defend me. =(
Now don't get me wrong. I love my mother-in-law. She is hardworking and diligent and very amiable. But we just have the wrong ideas in rearing kids. I prefer to teach my boys here at home. I KNOW I can give them the best education this way. She thinks that the best way for them to learn is at school. That's simply where the problem lies. So now, I tell Nikki, "The next time lola (grandma) asks you to go to school, just tell her that you are homeschooled." So there. At least this way, Mama won't feel insulted. She might feel slighted if I said it myself. Sigh.
I know I'm a sensitive person but for me, this is a sensitive issue. I CHOOSE to homeschool my boys not because I don't want them to go to school but because I know this is what's best for us now. So okay, maybe in the future the boys will want to try traditional schooling, that's perfectly fine by me. As long as I know that my boys are thriving and learning their own way, then I have no complaints. But for now, all I want is to be able to educate my boys MY way, the homeschooling way.

HAND PRINTS
This is Nikki's hand print. He barely touched the paper when he started to lift his hand up. I had to press his hand down, but even so, there were some parts in the fingers where there were little paint. But still, I think it came out good. =D I think I'll get a colorful frame for this one.
Ethan's print looks chubby and only because he wiggled his fingers around while he pressed down on the paper. But I think it's really cute! I couldn't believe that handprints could give so much character to a person. I think the colors are really bright and will look wonderful in their new room. I'll probably get a nice colorful frame for this one as well. Can't wait to see these prints on the wall!! =D

ARTIST AT WORK
Ethan does this almost everyday: scribbling, drawing and doodling. He just loves that. Here in Zamboanga, he already has 3 notebooks filled with all his "art work". I haven't thrown away most of his drawings. I want him to see them when he's older. Most people might think that his pictures are not artistic at all but to me, they all are. He is very creative in choosing colors and only he could understand what he really wants to draw. It's all in his head. I really love it when I see him so passionate about something. Hopefully when he's bigger he will have art classes and will continue to love drawing.
What do you want me to draw, Mommy? =D

WHAT TO DO
.....
Ethan is talking more and more everyday. He's still having some difficulty with pronunciations but he can get his message across now, unlike before when he would get all frustrated and would just scream at me or his dad everytime we stare blankly at him because we had no idea what he was trying to say. I understand Ethan's need to scream and yell sometimes. He's a very emotional boy and uses his emotions to communicate with us or he screams and yells so we would know that he's in a cranky mood. Hopefully, when he starts to really speak he will also learn to control his emotions and frustrations when needed. I am sure Nikki will be a good role model for him since Nikki is quite practical and easily understands what we want of him. For now, I won't hold it against Ethan but I'll still keep close watch on his behavior of course.
