RHYMING WORDS

Nikki has this workbook that had cutouts at the back. When he was done with the book, I cut out the words and let him put the rhyming words together. He got them all correctly in one try. I am actually thinking of upping Nikki's lessons a bit because he seems to know the basic stuff already. But of course, we will be doing reviews from time to time just to keep him on the right track. So far, aside from rhyming words, I have been letting him practice dexterity: putting on his clothes, eating with spoon and fork, tying, cutting paper, beading, etc. We have also tried to do some hands-on activities like baking cookies. He seems to enjoy those. I think he was starting to get bored with worksheet lessons so I'm trying to put a bit of variety in our lessons. I think I need to plan our lessons more carefully. Maybe we could have one major activity for the day and then minor lessons after. Hopefully, we will be more orgnized in the coming months.

NIKKI'S PLANNER

Ruther and I got this planner for Nikki. We think it's a great and fun way for him to be aware of the days of the week and the dates as they progress. Not only that, it will also teach him about the weather and the seasons as well as his feelings everyday. It's really a neat planner and I hope he never tires of it. =D

Following grid lines. Nikki made a mistake in the last few lines but I showed it to him and he corrected it.

Nikki didn't want to do this at first because he was too conscious about what his drawing would look like but when I encouraged him and showed him some of Pooh's photos, he finally drew the arms. =D

PARTS OF THE BODY

I got the boys this puzzle a few months ago. It's an introduction to the different parts of the body (inside and outside). I figured, since the boys love puzzles, the will learn the parts of the body the fun way. Already, Nikki knows most of the parts and so I am looking forward to the time when we get into more detail. But of course, it will depend on his readiness. =D

DOT-TO-DOT

Ethan does not like it when I try to teach him things. He prefers to do it on his own and learn by trial and error. I respect his learning style even if it frustrates me sometimes because I'm so used to teaching the traditional way with Nikki (workbooks, etc.). But anyway, I try to give Ethan some learning tools that will help him in his process. I bought him a write-and-wipe book and he would doodle in it without knowing exactly what to do. But the other day, I saw him carefully following the dots to make a picture and I was so happy and proud of him! I realized that Ethan does not want to be pushed and would do things when he is good and ready. And that's just the way he is. And really, that's no problem with me at all just as long as he learns, he loves learning and would want to continue learning always. =D

MAKING A RAINBOW

We're on to another experiment and this time, on how to make a rainbow. We actually had to wait for the sun to come out because it was mostly cloudy for the past week. But when it did get sunny, we decided to do the experiment.

Nikki and I did this simple experiment the other day while waiting for their bath water to heat. I figured, we could always do something while waiting. =D

Nikki really enjoys studying geography so I thought it would also be nice to study the flags. We made some flags using pentel pens and Nikki enjoyed it. He already knows a few flags of some well-known countries and I'm happy about that. Next week, we will add more flags until he will be familiar with most of the flags of the world.

WORLD MAP PUZZLE

Nikki seems to enjoy geography a lot these days so I got him this World Map puzzle. He's learning so much and we're even tackling the continents and seas. We're not getting into too much detail, just an introductory lesson. I'm glad he's having loads of fun learning.
